Background:
We’re seeking a high potential candidate who has rounded consultancy experience and is looking to take the next step in their career as Head of Ports to lead a small, dynamic team of engineers specialising in the design and development of ports and harbours. You will be responsible for overseeing the commercial direction, technical excellence and project delivery of our ports and harbour design team. As Head of Ports, you will be a part of the Offshore Group senior management team and its 50 engineers and consultants.

As Head of Ports, you will lead and manage a team of civil engineers to grow and expand our ports and marine infrastructure offering as a part of our wider multidisciplinary Offshore Design and Advisory Group. We are looking for a dynamic individual who can seek new business by developing and managing client relationships, provide technical oversight to projects, manage teams and take financial responsibility for profitability and growth as part of our Venterra global portfolio of offshore wind and marine infrastructure development plans. You and your team will collaborate closely with our Advisory Consultancy team offering clients strategic and specialist technical advice and deliver designs for marine project infrastructure in the UK and Ireland.

Early project stage technical advice from inception through the design and construction delivery phases of project development. This includes market studies, infrastructure readiness and due diligence, high quality concept and detailed designs, technical support to planning and EIA submissions for port and marine infrastructure.

Key responsibilities:
- Team Delivery – ensuring department project delivery with the team to ensure adherence to quality standards, programme and cost. Act as a lead consultant and advisor to clients and taking a senior role in supporting management of projects.
- Leadership & People Management – management of people development and growth, resourcing, department utilisation and recruitment.
- Client management and work acquisition - external responsibilities will be to spearhead work acquisition and client relationship management focusing on end user clients (offshore developers, Port operators) and Tier 1 contractors.
- Commercial – Participation in client sales acquisition, relationship management and ensuring departmental projects are delivered to budget
- Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng) or equivalent.
- Proven experience in port, harbour, or coastal infrastructure design.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Commercial awareness and experience in project delivery.
- Passion for sustainable and resilient maritime infrastructure.
- Visa sponsorship may be considered for exceptional candidates for roles in the UK or Ireland.
